French Polynesia is a very interesting case to study because its people, history and experiences have much to teach us about interaction between local, regional and international communities.

Using the case of French Polynesia, this course (offered in French) will analyse the unique aspects of this country arising, among other reasons, from the fact that French Polynesia is still today a colony of France, and more precisely a French overseas country. This means that its links abroad occur first and foremost with France. This course also examines how regional and international dynamics and processes inform the local political and economic decisions and the socio-cultural processes in French Polynesia.

We will also take a look at the issues related to agriculture, sustainable development and the environment, and the economic, historic and sometimes contradictory strategies of these policies in light of human development.
